Hi, my name is Amy Noyes, APRN. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Georgetown University and my Masters in Nursing from the University of Virginia. I have been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 2006 and am a fellow in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
I was an active duty Navy Nurse who held numerous positons within Navy Medicine that has provided me a wide breadth of duty stations, nursing experience, and Naval leadership that has helped to shape my current practice. I have been working with children with special health needs for fifteen years, and now know that they are the reason that I became and continue to be a pediatric nurse practitioner.
My wonderful husband has also been in the military as a Marine initially and now with the Connecticut National Guard. We have three beautiful and busy children and love to spend time out on our boat and skiing, when we are not at one of their practices or games.
During a deployment in 2008, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. I was far from home and family, initially it was my Navy family that was there to take care of me and support me when my family was not there. Over my years in the Navy, military parents have always said that there is something about military care that has brought them comfort during some of the most trying times in their families’ lives.
While there are not any military hospitals in New England it is my hope that Devyn’s Charm, Inc. will help to be that out reach to military families struggling with a child’s illness. The Charm Chests will help provide some comfort to tired families away from home. The knowledge and sense of community provided on this web site will help families realize that they are not alone in their journey and that the military family is always there to give them strength when away from family.
